A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanu, on Friday said Ndigbo’s have to wait till 2027 before they can realize their ambition of becoming President of the country.
According to him this will be when the South-South and the North may have completed their turn of eight years each.
Iwuanyanwu who is also a member of the PDP’s Board of Trustee, BoT, stated that any attempt to prevent President Goodluck Jonathan who is from South-South from completing his remaining four-year-term, may be calamitous to the unity of the country.
He said this while speaking in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
“I therefore strongly suggest that since South-South Region has four years out of the constitutional eight years, it should be allowed to complete eight years. I once more appeal to my people of Southeast who are legitimately demanding for the presidency of Nigeria to subjugate this ambition to the unity, peace and stability of Nigeria by supporting South-South.
“After South-South has completed its tenure of eight years, the presidency will naturally go to the North. In effect, in four years time, all Nigerians will support Presidency going to the North. After eight years in the North, the Presidency will come back to the South. When it comes to the South, it will automatically be the turn of Southeast since South West and South-South have taken their own turns.
“This is a very trying period for our country and I appeal to all leaders to subjugate their individual or group interest for national interest. I must confess I have on my own held private discussions with some leaders from various parts of the country, making this proposal and all those I discussed with were in support of my opinion,” Iwuanyanwu said.
